Yuck

Yuck / The Dope

1:03:11 Underground Club, Cologne

was in the early 90's indie world is in order: Dinosaur Jr still had hits, Superchunk Teenage Fanclub were young and still Bandwagonesque and in Westphalia, there was the Hip Young Things and Sharon Stoned even good German bands. Today Bielefeld is just a soon third-class myth, but the other three bands still make music, even better ( Majesty Shredding was my favorite album 2010), sometimes worse (or should we call it in the case of Teenage Fanclub old can), and then come, therefore, the youngsters of Yuck and bring the past back to life.

Their debut album has just been published in England and after a series of sold-out shows in their home stand with her very first performance in Cologne, Germany on the program. Since the CD has not been released in this country, the number of visitors in the small club of the Underground was quite manageable. but maybe 70 people should not regret coming. Although the band has not reinvented the wheel, whiners might even think that one of the songs just after the bands, after which it would seem, should nominate. Shook Down would be Teenage Fanclub, Pavement and operation Georgia Yo La Tengo ... what would actually be even perhaps a reference to Georgia Hubley could. But if young people can come alive for nearly twenty years later, almost my favorite bands back then, one should rather look to find fault and blame them rather than lack of originality, because that music was just fun.
And the four band members on stage thawed slowly. Singer Danny looked very shy at first and reserved, then the lay increasing and then but he communicated with the audience and some vigorous swirling around with his guitar. Only I would have hoped for something more live guitar walls, since except for operation and the slow bouncer Rubber had the appearance of something held back.
However, there were very good 50 minutes, without any addition, but what could one expect from a band with just one album and a handful of singles anymore?
fit very well by the way as well as The Dope in the program, as the duo of Landshut opened with his loop with painted guitar-drum music of the night seemed a little skewed as Yuck with more noise instead of indie rock, but was at least just shy on stage. And no, I can not help to write that I have thus The Dope Show finally seen her live ...
